Heat Cycle Woes !

Our 8 month old is either in her 2nd or 3rd week of her first heat cycle. The reason we don't know exactly is because we didn't even notice until she started dripping small amounts of blood on our hard wood floors, and this was the Tuesday before last when we noticed.

We have done a good job of keeping our 2 year old male away from her, and neither of them are left unsupervised at any time during the day. On most occasions they have separate play time outside while the other stays in their crate.

Tonight, around 5 P.M., she vomited. An hour later she ate her dinner, drank some water, and vomited again. Is this something to be concerned about, or is it normal? Should we take her to the vet tomorrow, or should we wait it out to see if she gets better?

Her vomiting should have little to do with her heat cycle. I would call your vet to get an opinion. I'm sure they will want to take a look at her if this persists.

In the future (especially since you have an intact male in the house) I would chart her heat cycles. Even though the cycles are not exactly six months apart you will have a reasonable guide.
