Hello! Obi is 5 months now and within the next week I know he will no longer be able to wear his harness. They grow so quickly!!

This is the harness we were using https://www.petsmart.com/dog/collar...harnesses/kong-comfort-dog-harness-49144.html it worked great at first and I have used this same harness for other dogs but it just doesn't fit well on his body and neither does the next size up. The harness rubs against his arm pits too much.

I was looking at other posts and I saw this harness https://www.chewy.com/julius-k9-idc...ium=cpc&utm_content=Julius-K9&utm_campaign=hg but, I feel like for the price this is worth waiting until he isn't growing so quickly anymore. He is 5 months old and about 55 pounds.

I definitely plan on getting this one eventually, unless I find another great one, I'm just not sure if I should now. Here are some things I am looking for in a harness for him: a wide chest strap (we keep Obi attached to a seat belt in the car and in case we ever have to slam on the brakes I would rather the force be spread out rather than a thin harness pushing on one smaller space), I like have the handle on his back, plus like I said I don't want it rubbing against his arm pits and irritating him.

Thanks for any help! I'll add a picture of him :)

I'm using this one, but I only use Front Hook harnesses for walking. Helps tremendously against leash pulling:

It's cheap and thin and the dog isn't crazy about it but it fits fairly well and I didn't want to spend a ton of money since she would outgrow it.

The only thing that is weird is the sizing. My 50 LB 5 month old is still in a size small. I imagine when she approaches 60 LBS, we will need to go up to Medium. I guess they prefer XS, S, M, L instead of S, M, L and XL sizing so basically the small is what should typically be a medium.

When she gets to full size, I'm likely going to one of the OneTigris tactical vests. I like being able to Velcro packs on my dog for when we go hiking and patches when they're tooling around the dog park. Plus I like the different leash mount points and handle.

I use harness on my dog when we're hiking, rollerblading, biking and when he's in the car the harness is attached to the seatbelt. Sometimes when walking too, but I always attach it to the front clip when walking. Like Dutchy, I completely agree that it helps with the pulling: if you attach it to the front clip, he won't be able to pull. In contrary, clip on the back ENCOURAGES pulling. A lot of people make that mistake. That's why I attach to the back clip when we're rollerblading because I want him TO PULL.

This is the one that I use:

It's thick but not too thick, soft and spreads evenly on his chest and back.

That's a solid option! For the same price basically, I would go with that one. One thing my pup seems to not like is the thin straps can cut into her a bit more. I like that McGloomy's suggestions has wider coverage of the straps.

I went cheap and simple since it's only temporary but wish I had seen that one.

@Dutchy Petsafe isn't bad, in my opinion. I see a lot of people use it on their dog. But I didn't opt for that one because I actually use the harness to help my dog pull on command! Lol
