July 4, 2008 08:16 AM - A Mississauga woman who saw a person throw a dog off an overpass has some choice words for the unidentified culprit.
"You can't print what I want to say about that person," Mississauga's Deborah Pepin told The Niagara Falls Review after seeing someone throw a two-year-old German shepherd mix off the Victoria Ave. overpass in Niagara Falls on Tuesday. "I'd like to get my hands on whoever did this."
Pepin and her husband Ed were returning from a day trip to the United States at around 5:30 a.m. when she saw something falling towards the ground in front of the car.
After the dog hit the ground, Pepin looked up and saw a human arm sticking out over the wall above her.
The dog managed to get up under its own power and started walking down the road. The Mississauga couple followed the animal in their car and called 9-1-1.
Miraculously, the dog suffered only a split lip from the fall.
"He's a dog with nine lives," Niagara Falls Humane Society official Shannon Digby told The Review.
The dog is being put up for adoption.
Anyone with information can contact the Humane Society at 905-356-4404 or police at 905-688-4111, ext. 2283.
Two years ago, in a similar incident in Mississauga, a nine-week-old puppy was thrown off a bridge into the Credit River near Dundas St. W. and Mississauga Rd. The dog, named Flyer to commemorate the incident, recovered and was eventually adopted.
