Meet Macy... I just picked her up today. She was in Murray County. Picked up as a stray.. she is approximately 3 months old. Just getting her front adult teeth, the rest are still baby teeth. This poor girl is seriously emaciated and her gums were gray.
The vets are all closed of course... but I seriously suspect worms. I wormed her for round and hook as soon as I got her home. In a day or two I will vaccinate her.
I will know in a day or two if a rescue in Atlanta will take her or not, but she is safe now.
and her gums were gray, which is often a sign of heavy worm infestation.... a heavy worm load will cause anemia.
There are of course other causes, but since she has an appetite and is not vomiting or having the runs, worms are a good guess. When the vet gets in Monday she can go get checked out further.
