Freezing raw meat?

On another forum that I am a memeber of, somebdy posted that you have to freeze all raw meat for at least 24 hours before giving it to your dogs to kill bacteria. I know you have to freeze salmon to kill the parasite they sometimes carry but have never heard that you have to do it for meat. Has anybody else heard of this?

Re: Freezing raw meat?

From the Mayo clinic: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/freezing-meat/AN01815

"Freezing meat doesn't kill bacteria and other harmful microorganisms. It simply inhibits their growth. When you thaw the frozen meat, any microorganisms that were present before freezing will start multiplying again."

After seeing some of the things my dogs eat I don't worry about a little bacteria!!
Re: Freezing raw meat?

Thanks for that-thats what I thought but the other poster just got me a bit worried for a moment as my 2 get loads of meat & RMBs that havent been frozen. Can relax again now!
