Eye dripping/crying

One more health question for today;

My vet told me this is fairly normal and nothing to worry about, but that I need to wash (with humid cotton) under his eye once in a while for it to not leave a mark, but since I trust you guys more than my vet I want to run it by you as well, unfortunatly I don't have any pictures of when it's really bad as I keep washing it a couple of times a day, but look under the right (for him) eye in this pic:

Sorry about the wierd flash eyes..

There's no color to the liquid, it looks like it's just "tears", and it's always worse after I take him for a walk. Might this be related to the allergies I asked about in another post?

Cheers,

Thomas,
It sounds like you've got the new dog companion jitters... Every dog I've ever had, did this to some extent. It shows up more in white dogs than in darker dogs and white show dogs worry about staining. (They make a commercial product to wipe the stain off the fur, too.) Barker the Elder has 1 tear duct in each eye that is blocked which may make this worse. Tear production can be affected by irritation (such as that caused by allergies.)

So your vet, I think, is right...
If it's worse after a walk, particularly if he sticks his eyes in bushes, it could be allergies. Or maybe he isn't producing enough tears. You can use artificial tears to clean the eyes out after a walk.
I dont really know anything about the tear problem but the comment that you trust the people here more than your vet concerns me. IMO if you can trust your vet, you really need to find a new one. A vet plays a very important role in the health of our furkids. I would never trust my pup health to someone I didnt like or trust.
Oooh! I think this is a nice article on runny eyes:
http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_runny_eyes.html

I have a dog who had to have her ducts flushed. Still was tearing so they anesthetized her and discovered she is missing a duct in one eye. I am kind of doubting that is common, but like that article.

middleofnowhere: that's exactly what my vet said! (including the "showing better on white dogs" and that there's a commercial product available.

lisat: Hm.. I will try and watch out if makes a difference where we go (ie: with bushes etc).

DSudd: I was exaggerating, but you have to remember I live in a third-world country, in a small town where they are 20 years behind on most things..

Jean: Will look at that article. thanks

Cheers,
