There is another shepherd at the Lorain county kennel.The female shep that was there before with her ears down was saved by Fidos companion rescue.She is very ill from neglect and malnourishment. Says on Petfinder she is in isolation and praying she will pull through.There are so many shepherds at pounds in Ohio.Very depressing.
I spoke with a shelter worker. He states they do not do any kind of vet check on the dog prior to adoption unless they note a reason that warrants care, such as diarrhea. As a result, the adoption fee is only $29 ($15 for the dog & $14 for a license). They will do out-of-state adoptions, but do not assist in transport. Also, no one at the shelter does any temperament testing, but states this dog seems a little skittish in the shelter environment. If anyone is interested, he welcomed them to come by or send a representative.
