here are a few things my dog does. is this a job or obeying
commands?

> retrieves the mail for us and our neighbor.
> "find it". i hide something and he finds it,
indoors or outside.
> carries things for us.
> if i drop something when out walking him
he picks it up automatically.
> gets his leash and waits in front of the door.

i have to leave for work. i can't think of anything
else he does that maybe concidered a job.

Keeping me fit and "young", being an ambassador for its breed, a good friend and fun play and dog class buddy, he "helps" with the dishes and unloading the dryer (after he learned that clothes are not tug toys), keeping track of things that are out of the ordinary. He is learning to be my assistent in training other people's dogs.

No not really. I do take him on my runs to keep me company but I don't think that counts as a job since he's too good of a time!

Walking/Running buddy.
Ball retriever.
Being my surrogate child.
Floor crumb cleaner.
Greeter for everyone that comes to the door.
Stalker. Follows me everywhere.
Cuddly companion for my husband and me.

I do feel guilty though for him not having a real job :/ My husband has said though if I really want to take Schutzhund on as a hobby and Gunther enjoys ( and if he takes to it) it we can try to get into a club and do it :)

any GSD can search and earn a Shutzhund title but only a few
can truly be couch guardians and snuggle buddies.

Zira is just a pet... through and through. She's never expected to really do anything to be honest. She's my SO's.... so she spends most of her time next to him. I'd say she's his personal shadow.

Duke is my shadow, my best friend, my body guard, and my training buddy.

Storm is still a companion like the other two... but her job is mostly on the IPO field. She's not a great house dog quite yet. Too immature, too high drive... she'd eat my house whole. So when she's out I'm either working her, keeping her moving, or she's in my eyesight around the house. She's definitely more of a working dog. But, most important she is a pet too and is treated like one.

Cara volunteers as mood elevator for all who need a lift. Folks spend a few minutes with her and leave in a much better mood. She comes to work with me several days per week. Still part-time, but soon to be full time. :D

Yes he does. Wolfie takes the trash barrels to the curb for me. I loop his leash through the handle and he pulls on the leash until the barrel is at the street.
