So I changed dog food Sunday, idk the brand name off hand, but its puppy food for big dogs. Since change to it, he eats more, and his limp is now slowly going away???

The food you were feeding probably had too much calcium, which causes the bones to grow too fast and can cause limping/lameness (panosteitis). Now that he's getting less calcium, bone growth is slowing so the symptoms are going away.
