Crank got his mondioring 2 second leg done in North California in Vacaville last weekend. 285 out of 300. Twelve of those points were lost by yours truly on a somewhat questionable double command handler error on the retrieve which caused us to zero the exercise. Crank was perfect though. 3 points were "lost" on the escort which IMO was flawless, but what can you do? If anyone wants to watch Crank's routine it was livestreamed on Marvel K9 Dog Training Academy's facebook page.

He was the third dog in that video of the level 2 face attacks. Needed every bit of that French Ring foundation to make that catch too because that decoy was gunning for my points big time.

The adjustment Crank had to make from decoys right leg to his left to make that catch was done inside of a meter. Super fast.

For level 2 it is -2 points per second for late to bite and they start counting from the initial miss. So roughly -4 for the first dog and then the fourth dog lost -8 or so. That starts to get way more expensive at level 3 because it starts to deduct points off of your stopped attack and also the point loss per second jumps to -3.

If a dog misses initially it is legal for the decoy to esquive scoop and generally fight like **** to keep the dog off a bite so you really don't want that, but sometimes it is pretty hard to avoid. You used to be able to do Mondioring without the french ring technique, but over the years mondio has largely turned into french ring light. The typical FR face attack with stick is done without an obstacle and they then throw the quick moves in to test the dog. Now it's obstacle and then they throw the quick move in there anyway.
