Monday evening I tried to do something nice for one of my dogs -- that was my mistake.

I noticed Heidi had no toys in her kennel -- who knows what she did with them, but I went to pick a ball up out of Whitney's just as Whitney launched herself enroute to the top of her dog shelter (about 44 inches off the ground).

Our heads connected. I am still nauseated. After carrying on a bit and thinking that my life was over, and examining my hand for all the blood that must have seeped all over it (finding none), I checked poor Whitney's head and she seemed ok.

Somehow I made it through work the yesterday.

Last night Whitney did not eat her dinner. I called the ER vet, and asked whether dogs with head injuries stop eating. I explained the injury. They told me that the dog's head is harder than mine, so if I am ok -- still not sure.... She said that Whitney was probably stable enough to wait until the morning.

I went to work this morning after Whitney did not eat again, and called the vet from work. They told me not to worry and that if she does not eat by tomorrow morning to bring her in.

So I told my boss that I cracked my head on my dog and may have to take her to the vet tomorrow morning. Errrgh!!!

Hmmm- interesting. I must have missed the part where you called your doctor. I really think you should have your head examined.

Funny how much better we take care of our animals than ourselves, isn't it?

Hope you are OK. If you are reading this in duplicate you may want to hold up a finger and count how many you see.

Best to Whitney - perhaps the vet will see you both.

I would rather go to my vet, they are cheaper, they give you drugs right there, they do not subject you to needless tests, they do not ask you stupid questions, they know where it hurts without you having to explain it, and I trust my vet....

humans are animals, mammals, etc. If vets can do mammels like dogs and cats as well as all the others birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, then they ought to be able to do humans too.

They do not do much for a concussion, they say REST. I hope maybe if she is not eating due to nausea or inflamation in the brain they can give her something.
