has anyone used comfortis pills for fleas? do you feel it's safe? my dog has been scratching a lot and his belly is getting red and irritated. i called the vet and he is prescribing comfortis. was just wondering if you have had success with this being used on your dogs. i don't see any fleas but vet seems to think this will work. i hate meds for him, but, i want tosee him feel better. please let me know what you think. thanks.

My vet recommends Comfortis and this guy is an all out natural/holisitc/alternative medicine kind of guy. Says it's very effective. I use Vectra because of the ticks in my area, not much of a flea problem

I've been using COMFORTIS for over a year (only give the pills if the Hooligans are scratching). I've been very happy with the results. But like Lisa said, some dogs may have a reaction to it ... Slider had one in the Spring and can't take it.

Yes for us. Our non-GSD had a large hotspot that he would not leave alone (minus cone). Meds, sprays, nothing helped. Tried Comfortis, he stopped itching (or scratching the hotspot) and it healed within 2 weeks.

We had the same problem for awhile. He was itching all the time, but I never found fleas on him. I tried Frontline and that didn't work. I read around, and asked a few people, and some recommended Comfortis. I used it with my puppy, and he is just fine now. Only thing I can say is to feed him, and then once he is finished, then give the pill to him. The pill alone can cause the dog to throw-up if he is on an empty stomach.

I use it on my white GSD when I notice fleas on him. This year has been horrible because it won't cool down, so we've had a time of it. I also use Sentinel. The good thing about the Comfortis is that it kills any fleas within 30 minutes, so I can see almost instant relief. I'm hoping we've this beat for the season. The house has been de-flead, if you will, and so has the dog.

Penny struggled with allergies for years before we found comfortis. Since being on it she is like a new dog. She still has an occasional flare up but nothing like before. Thanks you comfortis! Definitely worth a try in my opinion and Penny has always tolerated it well.

Comfortis worked great for our pup who was going through a severe allergy to flea saliva (she was infested with fleas when we brought her home from the breeder). After many visits with our regular vet, a wrong diagnosis of sarcoptic mange, and treatment with antibiotics she wasn't getting any better. We ended up taking her to a dermatologist who diagnosed her with the flea saliva allergy. He put her on Comfortis, along with another medication called Program for two months, which worked great. (One kills the eggs, the other kills the adult fleas - can't remember right now which one is which, but each monthly dose was given two days apart from each other). He also switched her to k9 advantix after the two month treatment. Have to say I'm very happy with the results.
