What is the best chew toy for a 80lb shepherd who seemingly and easily chews through the nylabones. Ivery gotten him the dinosaur ones and had to throw them out as they are now missing heads and tails. I got him a new tough big enough today and he is chewing that up bad already too. He is an EPI dog and on limited Ingredient food so my options for chews for him around limited to one's like the nylabone etc. I just need one he actually can't chew through lol. Thanks!!

I saw a ruff root recently, and it is supposed to hold up to strong chewing, and be easy on the teeth. I can't confirm as the dog was a Briard and not a real strong chewer. But most chew toys are made to be destroyed. This one looked healthy with minerals involved. I will purchase a couple now that my 5# elk antler is finally done(from 2011!) https://www.chewy.com/dog/himalayan-dog-chew-ruff-roots-stump/dp/112731?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=hg&utm_content=Himalayan Dog Chew&utm_term=&gclid=Cj0KEQjw5ti3BRD89aDFnb3SxPcBEiQAssnp0uuB9TLV8aXPZ_EonguCmdaxCFUCLWe1tnp5hfJ4OBwaAvWN8P8HAQ

Hmmm. I actually just saw this too, but have never seen them before so I wasn't so sure. I just spent 40.00 on 2 chews that are suppose to be extremely durable but he's already almost got a piece of it chewed off and he just got it this afternoon. He is a strong chewer and also loves loves loves chewing. It the other thing he's doing if he's not sleeping or invading my bubble space with a toy lol

The only thing my strong chewer hasn't destroyed is his kong. The only problem I have with it is he shoves it under the couch when he's done with it. Then I have to dig it out when he wants it again. He has me trained :(

Lol too funny!!!!! I'm not sure if Scout would actually chew on a kong? He doesn't seem interested in them and I can't really put treats in it for him to work for until I get his EPI under control. It's frustrating!

The only thing we have found that ours doesn't destroy while chewing is this artificial bone thing my wife picked up. The only thing that concerns me is how hard it is. He still chews off little slivers. I'm afraid he would chip a tooth so he doesn't get it much.
I tried the Kong also. I filled it with peanut butter and he just wanted to pounce on it with his front paws and watch the peanut butter fly out the end. Tried freezing peanut butter in it. He wouldn't touch it.

A cautionary tale for everyone giving their dogs Nylabones and other hard chews...

My pit mix recently cracked the tip right off one of her canines while chewing a Nylabone. When we went to the dental specialist, he told us that he sees tons of broken teeth from Nylabones and other such chew toys. He advised we never offer them to our dogs again. Into the trash they went. Please learn from my mistake and save yourself, and your dog, a $2200 root canal. Because that's what we paid to save Roxy's tooth.

My gfs white German loves the everlasting treatball I got him, it takes him 45 mins or so to finish it.

Forgot to mention refills for the ball are like $6.00 on chewy and you get two per package, ball itself was like $15 on chewy

Kongs with food inside. I didn't know that about nylabones. That is the only other thing they can't destroy except s little piece at a time. I use the dura chews that are flavored. The dinosaur types aren't meant to be swallowed so aren't good for GSDs.

If you drink fruit juice you could offer the empty bottle. I find Simply Orange are the best. Of course if small bits get broken off, throw the bottles away. Usually my bottles just get completely crunched down by the chewing and then those tossed into the recycle bin.
