Canidae ALS Comparison (pics)

I went to the feed store today to pick up a bag of Canidae for the puppies. The first thing I noticed was the size. It's the same price ($33.99) but it's now only 35 pounds versus 40 pounds. (The 20 pound bag is now 15 pounds and is still $20.99).

The color of the "new" bag is more tan/gold than the "old" bag. What I don't like about the new bag is that it doesn't have the re-sealable spout.

The kibble itself is different as well. The "new" formula is lighter in color and slightly larger in size versus the "old" formula.

Since I know this has been a topic of discussion lately, I took pics of both bags and the kibble so you could all see the difference if you haven't seen it yet

I bought food Saturday and noticed that it was now a 15lb bag for the same price. Yeah it does look lighter. Our puppy may have already been eating NEW at the breeder but he ate the OLD for 3 meals here before I opened the new bag. I don't notice any difference in his poops. Morgan, no difference at all (but she can eat anything).
it is getting like that with all the foods and now I have noticed prices is going up and sizes going down, it is sad

Thanks for taking these pictures.

I wonder what the deal is with the 44lb bags?
Must be something "special" or something.

We also notice the difference when we went this past weekend to pick up food. We spoke with the store owner where we buy our dog food and he said the delivery people pulled a fast one on him. He had ordered 40lbs bags and there were only 35lbs bags delivered for almost the same price. He was not happy that he had to up the price for the 35lbs bags. And we pay almost $42 for a 35lbs bag...

Thats the thing. They aren't making 40lb bags anymore. But on the Canidae site, it says they now have 35lb and 44lb bags.(Besides the smaller sizes.)
But it seems like everyone here has seen the 35 lb size. Has ANYONE even seen it in the 44lb size? Or is it some sort of special "breeder" size bag that "Joe Public" can't get?
Not sure it was a 44lb but last weekend at the breeder, they had a stack of Canidae bags bigger than what I've seen in the stores.
All the bags around here are 35lb now. Our local distributor told us that would be happening a while back and the new packaging was going to be smaller bags for the same price as the old 40lb ones. I don't remember any mention of 44lb bags. If they exist, I haven't seen them.

Fortunately we buy enough at a time that we were able to work out a deal with the local distributor and feed mill and we're only paying $33 a bag instead of the $40-$42 it is at all the other stores.

Canidae doesn't do that type of breeder packaging. Their only breeder/kennel program is turning in a certain number of UPCs to receive a voucher for a free bag. Which by the way, anyone can do, including regular pet owners.

Also, if you buy enough food or can get enough people together who feed Canidae to allow buying it in bulk, the company will get you in touch with your local distributor and they in turn will work with local retailers to get you a price break for buying in large quantities. If we buy 10 or more bags at a time, we get it at nearly $10 off per bag.

Maybe we can pool our UPCs and donate it to the Troll with the Raman noodle dog?

Sorry, that was sick but I couldn't resist
