We are lucky enough to live on a ranch in mts. of CO and we are just finishing up our calving season. We calve out 800 cows.

My husband, me and our 2 dogs went out to tag calves this morning and I brought my camera along.

Picture 1: New baby less than an hour old
Picture 2: My husband tagging a baby with a nervous mama
Picture 3: Can you spy all the babies?
Picture 4: Grafting this baby to a mama who lost her baby.

Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing. Was at a friends small farm this week. They have Dexters and Angus. One of the little Dexter calves for some reason adopted an Angus mom. That last picture reminded me. So is yours a mixed herd? I see some white faces in there. He doesn't cross the Dexters and Angust but I know that Angus are used in a lot of crosses.

Guess you don't have to worry about what you feed YOUR dogs.

The herd here is mostly an angus/hereford cross. We cross our angus cows with hereford bulls, but we also have pure angus cattle too.

Glad you enjoyed them, I do too!
