Ok this weekend I bought a bag (1st time) of the California Natural Lamb Meal & Rice Health Bars. I opened them today and every bar I broke in half has a least one hair in it!

I thought it must be from mice so I called the company and told them. The girl knew immediately what I was talking about and went into her explanation that they use no chemicals and only visual inspection (have just raised to triple) and that the hair is from the lamb. She said it is only in the lamb recipe and is not harmful. It was quite obviously they've had these calls before.

Has anyone used this product? Is it really ok to give the dogs with this hair in it? She said it was subcutaneous. It totally grossed me out and I'm hesitate to give to my dogs now.

I wouldn't personally think a second thing of it. They'll pass it.

I guess if you're questioning the quality control that would be a second issue entirely. But the hair itself I wouldn't be concerned with.

I think that is really gross. Yet dogs eat stuff off the floor sometimes and eat there own hair if a strand gets into that lick for food. So I would think it would be of no harm to the dog. Just a gross thing to think about when you place yourself in that situation with your own food.
