My girl had surgery on her left rear leg on Tuesday, so we're 4 days PO. She was weight bearing from the get-go and recovery seems to be going well. She's walking without the assistance of a sling and she's had a few bowel movements already. But I'm concerned about all the bruising, which seems to be getting worse. Is this amount of bruising normal on the fourth day? She's on three meds, Carprofen (Rimadyl), Tramadol and Cefpodoxime. TIA.

What I'm seeing from your pic is normal as I remember and it will appear to get darker and look worse before it starts looking better.....I think my dog Cody's leg was pretty dark and purple for a couple weeks then slowly lightened up...surgeon said not to worry it would come around and it did......

Taking pictures is a good way to monitor progress, otherwise it can be difficult to gauge. Ranger used his leg from the get go as well, just be careful she does not over do things.
