Ok.

I had a breeder, but communication was pretty bad and I was not comfortable going ahead with the purchase. I want a breeder that I can contact now, and 5 years from now that will reply in a somewhat timely matter and be willing to answer my questions. That is important to me.

I love the German lines. Deep red and black coats. I'm looking for a family pet. No high prey drives either as I have a cat. I won't be breeding or showing. And I really have no been interested in long coats, BUT I won't completely say no to them either depending on the temperment and all. And like I said, I won't be showing so it won't really affect me. But I do like the shorter hair. I'm willing to spend somewhere around $1800 and location is not a big deal. I'm fine with shipping and that additional cost.

Also, I'm up for a puppy up to around 4/5 months old. Anywhere is that age span. And I want a female.

I'm biased, I grew up with female sheps.

I just want suggestions. I feel like I have looked at so many, but this is a big thing and I want the best one to add to my life and am taking my time to make sure I do so.

High prey drive does not equate to non-cat safe. The dog is either safe or not safe on an individual basis and has nothing to do with drive. The biggest couch potato can be a cat killer while my high prey drive dog is completely cat safe.

Where do you live to people a better idea who to recommend to you or are you willing to ship?

I'm in Texas, but very willing to ship.

Also, if I'm not at home, the dog will not be allowed to roam free with the cat. I've always been a big fan of crate training and the two will only be able to hang out when I am around. Just as a precautionary thing. Better safe than sorry.

Kandi has a very nice female available. A little older than you are looking for and maybe a bit on the drivey side. But it sounds like she is the breeder you are looking for.

I'm about 6 hours away from Dallas. So probably not quite close enough for meetups, unfortunately. However, I do make random trips to Dallas. Maybe I can plan one around a weekend sometime. I'd love that!
