Hey all!

I've done some obedience before with my big boof Rogue, however he was older than Summer is when I got him so well socialised and a very well adjusted dog given he came from a shelter.

I've been advised to take Summer to an all breeds obedience club for her socialisation. But there is also a German Shepherd Dog Club not far from where I live. My question is do you think it will be detrimental to Summer's socialisation if she attends a breed specific club? Will she believe that other breeds are "bad" if she is not around them?

The GSD club seems like a good idea, as they would understand the breed and the best ways to train them.

Any suggestions or insight on this would be helpful! I'm not sure what to do!

I suggest you visit both clubs with Summer and join the one that you feel is the best fit for your dog and that you are comfortable with. In the all breed club there could be other gsds.

The basic fundamentals of training are the same with all breeds in my opinion. You also have to ask yourself what you want out of your dog. If you want to get into the sport of Schutzhund or light protection work then I would go with the GSD club. Go to both and observe the trainers and methods they use.
