Boosting Immune System? non-gsd

Is there a quick way to boost the immune system? This is for my 23 year old non-furry kid. She was prescribed prednisone 2 weeks ago for an allergic reaction to latex gloves. Then last Friday she developed a sore throat and was prescribed pennicilin and prednisone. Now she's really sick. I'm so frustrated because she works on a small cruise ship so she's not at home. I really hate prednisone.

Do they want her immune system boosted?

Vitamin B shots? I have no idea-I just know my grandmother got them!

Modulators might help? Colustrum or DMG?

KV Vet Supply has a human catalog called Health Links that I like to look at. http://www.kvvetsupply.com
Prednisone acts as an immune suppressant. So, I would check with the doctor before trying to boost your daughter's immune system.

I'm on other medication to suppress my immune system because of an auto immune condition. I have an overactive immune system so boosting it would make my condition worse. So, I'm not sure if the same logic would apply to your daughter while she's on prednisone.

I hope she gets better soon.
Although I can understand your frustration it would be best for your daughter to be tested for allergies and/or see an immunologist. Immunology is a broad field of biomedical science that studies all aspects of the immune system.
I'm not a big fan of prednisone either but under certain conditions it is necessary even if only for a short duration. Once again I would strongly suggest that your daughter schedule a consultation with a specialist. Best of luck.
Some good news. My daughter went to the ER at the island they are docked at. The doctor there diagnosed her with a sinus infection (which is what I thought she had) and gave her erythromycin. Within 6 hours she was feeling much better. She has an appointment with an ENT in August. Thanks for all your support!
I agree with the others. Immune system "boosting" isn't necessarily a good idea for someone who has what appears to be severe allergies. A specialist is what she needs.

Take it from someone who lives with life-threatening allergies every day, your skin kid doesn't want to mess around with her immune system. AND she does want/need to carry around whatever she needs to protect herself for her latex (and other?) allergies. I know that specialists are expensive and hard to schedule. But she really doesn't want to mess around with this. Please tell her to be careful and take the steps to take care of herself.

She wears nitrile gloves now. She is lucky - so far - that her reaction to latex is limited to a nasty rash on her hands.
