what does a dog that barks/nips at a vacuum/lawn mower mean? does it say anything about temperment at all?

Vacuums and mowers very likely makes noises we can't hear (20 khz+) that drive dogs nutso. Banjo once ripped a weed-eater from my hands and gave it a good scolding. After Banjo got a scolding he didn't attack the appliance anymore but sure did give it the stink-eye.

As to temperment, not something across the board I'd hazard. Pounding on the rattling dashboard of a car might be a similar idea. Dogs have no hands and a mouth, we have opposable thumbs and a huge cerebellum. MAKE IT STOP!

Our guy would attack the Vacuum until we got the e-collar. All it took was 10 minutes of training and he learned the vac is actually a noisy friend that sucks itchy hair away.

He actually likes the dustbuster now.
