I just wanted to let you know that the Stateline Schutzhund club will be hosting a seminar with Bernhard Flinks on the 21st-23rd of March 2008.

We are located on the border of IL and WI near Harvard IL.

I will be posting more later with details, just getting the early word out so people can mark the dates if interested.

I will be there as well Eric. Dave said it would be in March last weekend, but now we finally have a firm date. Are you going to work Zoe during the seminar? This will be my second Flinks seminar, and each time Lowen has had a littermate participating. This time you'll see Lowen work, but I'm sure I'll bring her up to Stateline prior to that anyway.

John,
do you have any idea how much it costs and how to register? Are we able to bring 2 dogs, or is there an extra charge?

Paivi,

I train with the TD of Stateline at another club, and I knew that Flinks was coming in '08 for about 6 months now and this post was the first time I had an exact date. That will tell you how early this is in the planning stages. I would go to Stateline's web site (http://www.statelineworkingdogs.com/) and shoot them an e-mail with these questions. The one thing I do know, is that I'll see you and Cody there!

Hi John, Yeah, i'll have both my dogs there, but i'm sure i'll see you before then. I'm going to try and find a weekend soon to come down to your training group again and see how Lowen is coming along. I look forward to seeing your progress.

As for the details, I'll get those out in a couple weeks. We just got the dates confirmed, so there is still some planning to do. As soon as we get the details hashed out, I'll post them with a link to our website.

These dates...March 21-23, 2008 are the dates that Bernhard just confirmed with us this past weekend for our Training Seminar in Colorado....so I think everyone should be prepared for possibly a minor changes in weekends. We are flexible with the weekends in March, but just hoping it will work out for everyone.

Hopefully, it won't cause any inconviences to anyone and everyone will have a great time training with him.

Bernhard just re-confirmed with our dates. They will be March 7-9. Had a slight mix up,... but is now corrected.

Hope everyone has a great time with him and many, many people will get to share in his expertise.

Do we have to have a dog present? Does it matter what level the dog is at? I stopped Ekko in his training due to his health issues. We were working towards a BH when I stopped his training. He is now 4 years old and I will probably never seriously compete him in the sport because of those health issues, but I'm always interested in learning more.

The Flinks seminars I attended he worked with each team regardless of their level of expertise or training. Before I bring a dog to a workshop/seminar I do try and get a feeling for the other attendees, figure I get more if several of the teams are about the same level I am.

On the other hand I have attended several without a dog and I think in a lot of ways it's more enjoyable and I learn more. You have no idea how much you miss when you are distracted by a dog. Seems like the good stuff always happens when I am potty breaking or bringing my dog on or off the field!

There will be a limited number of dog/handler teams participating, but an unlimited amount of observers, and yes not working a dog will be less expensive. All levels are welcome. The last Flinks seminar I was at had all levels, but mostly beginners. This one should be good because the club it's at is a pretty serious club, and a lot of my club will be there too. In addition, lots of work will be done because Bernard has worked with Dave Blank before and is comfortable with his helper work. Dave is the guy working Itor in the Drive and Focus DVD Leerburg sells. It's possible Steve House will be there too. LOTS of experience on the field with the three of them.

Ok, we have some updated info

The seminar is March 21-23

fee is 100 per day per dog
40 bucks per day to spectate

retired or current LEO's get a discount to 30 a day

Lunch is included

Tracking will be discussed but working time is going to be dedicated to mostly OB and Protection as that time of year leaves the tracking fields and conditions pretty iffy.

Here's a link to the website if the forms are not up yet, you can email me directly at [email protected] and I can get those out to you right away. Any othe questions feel free to email me or PM me thru here
