Ok..I love my iRobot vacuum...I was browsing the site and came across the no bark system. Anyone heard of it or used it? I know my dogs bark at the window when I'm gone (little noseprints everywhere) but they know not to do it when I'm home. I wonder if this would actually work. On a side note they now have a lawnmower robot...sigh at 2,300.00 I won't be getting one anytime soon

Here's the link to the no bark thing

I am not sure If I am talking about the same thing, but my sister in-law had one when she lived in an apartment. She had a problem with her little westie barking when she wasnt home. Is it a gadget that attaches to a collar? If so, it worked great for her. Eli got to the point that he wouldn't bark even when he wasn't wearing the thing.

I dunno, I just taught my dog "quiet" command. Once I tell him to be quiet, that is it, no more barking. This only works in a 30 feet radius. Outside of of that it kinda useless.

Plus I don't always want to deter my dog from barking. There are been times a feel un-savvy people came to our door, the barking let them know, "back off."

About seven years ago, my parents put one of these up because our new neighbors had three dogs that barked incessantly all day and night. None of us could get any sleep and we tried noise complaints, talking to the neighbors, but they would leave their dogs outside (kenneled) 24/7 and never even played with them. It was very sad. Makes you wonder why they got the dogs in the first place....

Anyways, the no bark product we used was undoubtedly a different brand, but the technology is still the same. We did not get the results we were looking for, and the dogs kept on barking. Perhaps those poor dogs were just off the deep end by that point anyways.

That is just my experience

ya my guys know the quiet command too. But when I'm not there I'm quite sure they bark at the birds, squirrels, garbage man etc. I haven't done anything about it, since I'm not there to enforce it, and I feel the same. I don't want them to never bark...just not to nuisance bark.

I was mostly interested to see if anyone else has used it. I've never heard of anything like it before.

No problem. We also thought it was probably too good to be true but desperate times called for desperate measures! Maybe the no-bark collars work better. In my mind I feel like putting those collars on them could make them neurotic. I know I would be if I had one of those on me!

Ya I tried a no bark collar on myself at the pet store. No way would I do that to my dogs. LOL. I think I'll just section off the living room so they don't look like psycho's barking at the front window..that way they can still see the action, just not be barking like fools at everything that catches their eye.

The no bark collars can work very well. I've never used them myself, but I know people who do. Strangely, you would think that it would stress the dog, but it is the opposite, they seem calmer and happier with it. It might be because the aren't driving themself into a high state of frenzy, and are relieved that the responsibility to warn off all introdurs has been take away from them.

I have heard that the better collars have different levels of correction. They automatically start off at the lowest, and keep going up until the dog feels it and stops barking.

I think that would be a good thing, then the collar would adjust to the right level each dog needs.
