The first walk of the day is at 3:30am because I teach a class that runs from 5-7am. The second walk is usually around 8pm after I've taught two classes, lifted, had a bunch of grappling matches and worked my regular full time job. With the tons of exercise I get and the long days I don't always feel like walking, and I def. don't feel like it at 3am!
So, my solution? I got a little Segway! I LOVE this thing. It'll do 10mph and has a 12 mile range, but its really stable at normal walking speeds. It'll handle grass and dirt just fine. With my older dog I always used a bicycle or rollerblades, but this thing is way more fun and its easier to maintain a slow puppy walking pace as well.
I've also got an electric monocycle on the way, but it'll take a bit of practice before I can manage a dog and ride that at the same time
