Hi guys, If you read my threads you are gonna see I'm having problem to find a suitable food for my boy. Is there anyone using nature's variety prairie formulas. My only concern is the fact that these formulas contain citric acid (bloat risk factor). What do ya think about this? Anyone feeding their kids:) with this food? Thanks

I fed this food to both of my dogs for months. Both ate this food before I adopted them. I switched over to Canidae b/c of cost, but when I can I'll probably continue to rotate with NV b/c they have more formulas than Canidae.

I read that it should not be mixed with wet or have liquid added b/c that increases the risk of bloat. Don't know how or why, but I just went alone with that recommendation.

I also tried some grain-frees but they were too rich. Icky diarrhea and the dog always seemed to be in pain b/c of the stomach issues.

Radar is on the Natures Variety Venison and Millet. We had tried Canadia and Innova puppy and still had mushy poop so the Natures Variety Venison was suggested to get him off of anything with Chicken. We chose this because the women who owns the pet food store said it was "big enough" for a growing pup. We are almost out so I switched back to Innova for one day and ended up with mushy poop again... so I guess we will stay on it! He is finally starting to fatten up a little. He has been gaining weight from growing in height but his ribs have always showed. Since being on the food he is finally starting to fill out and not look so skinny!

Jake has been doing great since I switched from nutro to using 2 parts nature variety lamb rice and 1 part evo red meat small bites.I switched rather quicly and I do not really 'wet down 'food but add a little leftovers canned dog food and just small amount water.Jake for the record seems to have an iron stomach but he just out of the blue one day refused his nutro which he had been on for years-after 3 days of leaving MOST food untouched (but not sick and grabbing biscuits or treats) I did this kinda rapid switch with no problem.

I just posted in a new topic that I found a piece of blue plastic in Nature's Variety Instinct rabbit food (canned.) I wrote to the company & I'll post what they say - if anything.

Going back to home cooking. I hate mystery meat.
