I recently rescued a GSD from a couple that said they had the AKC paperwork for the dog. I'm having a hard time getting the information. (It wasn't the best of situations). Is there any way I could look up the AKC paperwork and get the information and name changed and transferred over to me? This isn't the most important thing...Hera's health and well being is at the top of my list but I thought if I could get the paperwork transferred over to me it will help a little bit. Thank you!

you need a signed transfer from the last owner...you can look it up possibly, and apply for duplicate papers, but stil need a signature or bill of sale (maybe they would take that, not sure)

If the owner has lost the paperwork, they need to request a copy.

If you have any doubt about registration, you can look up a dog on the AKC website by name and breed to get the registration number.
