Hi guys!

Sooo.. before someone thinks I don't believe in vaccines- I do! Very much so, I am a nurse

I was just hoping to get some advice on safe socialization for a puppy that hasn't had all of its vaccines completed yet, due to not being quite old enough for them yet. I want to socialize but I am also aware of the dangers of parvo and distemper.

If you want to socialize with dogs then only vaccinated dogs that you know.

If you want to socialize to the environment, you can take him places you know are safe. Or if you take him someplace public, try to not put him on the ground.

BUT, you can socialize him to the environment just by introducing him to new things and experiences. Stairs, loud noises, different walking surfaces.

I use auto parts stores, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, the Quick Stop where the owner loves dogs. Playgrounds in our area have all been re-done in foam pads, in the middle of concrete school yards. All I'm really doing is sticking to hard surfaces and avoiding places you'd see very many dogs.

The only dogs or other pups they have contact with are at club, where I know the owners and dogs.

Thanks for the suggestions! Very helpful! I never really thought about taking him to stores like that... great idea! Our local Canadian Tire is pet friendly.

I just took my new guy to a game at the kids high school. It was GREAT! He was exposed to the bleachers, the band, all the people, food tents, loud speakers, EVERYTHING! Poor guy was tired!
