PLEASE HELP THIS SENIOR!!!

"Last night my best friend called me and her previous neighbor had found a dog near death and could I go over. I arrived to find older shepherd w/ back feet bleeding and three toes missing, her hips were not right, severely matted, severe eye infection...just real bad shape. I called my vet and he met me at the office. Turns out this girl is at least 15 which is amazing to me w/ her size and condition. She was not hit, she has arthritis. Her missing toes was prior injury and pads and nails bleeding b/c she had walked so far w/ bad hips and dragging them. Also amazing bloodwork reveals everything healthy and no heartworms. So she is all vetted except Spay which at this point in her age vet thinks more dangerous to put her under. Any one have a soft spot for seniors, she needs a nice quiet retirement home. Her temperment is excellent, however not tried her yet with other dogs and cats. Can anyone help her?? Will get better pictures soon! Please email me if you can help!- [email protected] "

I have put out a national request for help for this dog. Hopefully, someone will step up and help herMaybe check MARS rescue?? They are in Dallas, but are an all breed rescue. We will assist with medical bills and may be able to get a cart for her. The wound is probably due to advanced DM.

We might be able to give her a foster home - but we're about 5-6 hours away. There are no GSD rescues in this city (Lubbock), or even this part of the state.

If we can get a rescue to back us, and maybe some transport help, this might work.

We have plenty of cushy floor space, gentle pets, and love to give. (And vet references, and experience with sick animals.)
