Depends on where you are with your training. Kona is 2 and we are adding another gsd pup. She is very solid with her obediance and has matured a lot. Causes zero issues when left alone and very trust worthy with other dogs. I also have a cattle dog who is 3 years old. They are both very respectful of the rules and are very good indoors. I would def only consider it after you feel like you are at a good place with your shepherd.

The age gap is nice.

well we’re going to look at Rottweilers tomorrow..
I have been telling my husband that after our first shepherd experience (our working line is now 15 months and STILL very puppy-brained) that I am going back to rottweilers to have a rest. Puppyhood training with the rotties was never so crucial and was a lot more forgiving. My remaining rottweiler is 11 so we will not be ready for a puppy until he passes and that should provide time enough for the brat to mature too. They are separated when not supervised.
