Anyone else have this problem?

We currently have 3 set up in the house but have several more.

In the house we have 1 puppy vari type kennel for Dante, 1 54" midwest that was given to us by Kodi's former owners, and a 48" midwest we bought when we were rehabbing Kodi from the hip replacement...

We have two 42" crates (what we had prior to Kodi) that we keep because we are an overnight house for transport shepherds. This way the transport dogs have good sized cages to sleep in. We have a furrari that we LOVE for rainy season (so they don't shake water all over the walls) and I just bought a really nice vari kennel on CL. For this fall I am taking down the 48" midwest and putting the furrari back up and the new vari kennel. These crates make such a big difference containing fur and water compared to the wire ones where it builds up around the sides....

I use the plastic travel ones too, rather than the wire. Like you say, they're great if the dogs are wet, which mine are quit often, it makes more of a den, they can't stick any body parts outside of them and they're easy to move around and wash out

I have 2 crates. One in the beach house and one at home. Then again, I only have one dog. They are the midwest wire crates. I drive a Lincoln Town car so I don't have the room for a crate in the car.

I have a small wire crate, a medium sized wire crate...both were used when my dog was a puppy...and now I have 2 large wire crates in the house for her. One in the family room where she spends the day when I'm at work and the other is in the living room which is where she sleeps at night. And I also have a large wire crate at my boyfriends place so I don't have to take it with me when we are over there.

1 Excerise Pen
1 48" wire crate
1 Vari Kennel (schH)
1 36" wire crate (for when Stark was a puppy and for the cats if they get sick or need to be crated)
3 Cat carriers/Small vari kennels (one for each cat)

I am always looking for cheap kennels as I know I will be bringing another pup home in a year or two and want to ensure I have enough... lol.

Totally understand your addiction.. lol.

Now... you should see my collar & leash collection... lol.

Yes, I am addicted to dog crates. I have many different sizes of vari kennels (dogs and cats). I have 2 of the large size wire kennels, I have 3 medium size wire kennels, I have one small wire kennel and I have one of those medium size cloth kennels that pop open and you can fold it back up to travel. I also have a large dog run that is set up in the back yard, it's 8" tall and 18' long (housed everything from dogs to ducks to pigs) - chain link top and bottom. My back yard is also seperated by a dog run along one side.

I'm spending the weekend at a friend's house this weekend. She has two female GSDs and Hondo hasn't been there since he was 6 months old. We are taking percautions in the event the girls don't care much for Hondo (now a year old). I'm bringing three wire kennels as well as his normal travel vari kennel. She has x-pens that she uses, but in the event things get ugly, we are covered. Her girls haven't been socialized latey and may prove to be DA.

Sadly - I only use one of my kennels for everyday use (the pee machine mini doxie). I don't use the dog run (the gate stays open) and the large fully fenced dog run stays empty most of the time. I only use it now when my daughter brings her demon beagle home for the weekend.

I too have a crate addiction. 2 xl vari kennels, 1 large vari kennel, 2 suv crates, 1 medium sized shipping cargo crate, 1 medium wire crate. Plus I have 3 kenels in the garage. I mostly use the suv crates and Brenna is in the crate during the day when I work at home. Other wise they are in the house or in the kennels in the garage when I have to go to the office.

Can never have too many crates!

I share your crate addiction, on top of the dog crates about 6 in varous sizes, I have 2 of the tall cat crates with the shelves set up in the basement for my house cats, I keep the bottom doors shut on them, gives the cats a place for their litter box and shelves to get away from the dogs.

Only 2 here, I have a XL Midwest crate in my master bedroom, the one that has the nice tabletop on it (even though I would say there is probally only 1 hour each week that there is no one in my house and that's the only time she has to be crated because she's a little saint :0) and I have one pop up travel crate for travel.

Wait come to think of it I do have one more, it's the medium sized plastic airline crate that she was shipped to me in when we first got her, it's sitting in my guest bedroom waiting for someone to take it.....anyone here in south florida that needs it?

we currently have 4 crates, one plastic and 4 wire. One wire just got moved up to our bedroom for Shasta since i'm not ready to let her sleep free in the bedroom yet but she's always telling me when its bedtime because she heads for the stairs instead of her crate. i currently only have 3 dogs but Shelby may be moving in with my sister, her husband and her son because they're wanting a shepherd and my nephew fell in love with Shelby last visit and she paid more attention to that annoying 7 year old (yeah i cant stand my nephew) than she's paid to ANYONE. Plus my sisters soon to be hubby (they marry in february) loves GSDs and misses having one. he grew up with them in the house so i know she'd be going to a good home that knows what they're getting. I'm probably buying another crate in the next couple weeks to the car.

Hmmmmm, after reading this thread I think my addiction might be more searious than I feared...
I have 6 wire crates set up- 1 per dog, even though 3 have no need for a crate they like them.
I have 2 extra wire crates I used for fosters, and 2 4*4' puppy pens (one w a foster bunny in it and one loaned out right now)
I have a plastic travel crate for each of my dogs in case of disaster, one for each of my 2 macaws, and a spare for fosters...
Yikes, I never really thought about it before... that's 19 crates. And people wonder why my dogs and birds have their own bedrooms.

hhmm not an obsession exactly BUT 2 dogs, and 1 48"wire crate , 1 xlg vari kennel, 1 lg vari kennel, 1 canvas large set up, so 4 crates set up, 1 large, and 1 xlage wire crate folded in laundry room, 2- 4'high x pens, 1- 42" xpen, 2 large kennel runs outside and a fenced yard. Yep all this for my 2 dogs, I only shut a crate when I sleep or go out and only Gemma gets put in one. Kennel runs are only when I have visitors and dogs don't get along or Gemma is in heat,

2 dogs, 6 crates, 3 x-pens, 2 runs, anyone think I may be obsessed, oh yeah and I seriously thought of buying another run
