Has anyone else had problems with crooked fronts after ACL surgery? She consistently angles her butt off in the same direction. The surgery was on her right knee. It makes me wonder if she is compensating on that knee and needs to learn to adjust to it?

Jax,

My current GSD has been through a "TTA" ACL surgery on each leg. The last one last April. Based on how much time had passed after the surgery, I noted as much as 6-8 months before the stride and gait were more or less back to normal. Because of significant atrophy, this last one was in the 8 month range. I recall a more "side-ways" walk for some time. Now it is back to more or less normal, pretty straight.

Hope that helps. It's quite an experience, isn't it?

Exactly what I was asking! Thanks!!!

She's about 6 months post op. Her muscle is back but her gait is still odd. She had a procedure that only a couple surgeons in the country do. I started her back on groundwork for fronts so she could learn to adjust, or just to refresh her memory on where she should be.

Just an update on this for anyone having similar issues. What my trainer saw was she has trouble with her right leads. It's a function of her hip and her knee. I've started her thru my legs on the fronts so she is trained to shoot for that and it's helping to straighten her up as well as walking a little crooked to the left when I go out.
