This was posted on another board, and I thought it was a good article.

I thought no matter how many times we hear this, it was worth repeating again.

The warm weather is here and we all want to enjoy it spend time with our furry friends, but sometimes the safest place for them is at home.

Thanks for the article! One can never have too many reminders to be safe in the summer heat with their pups!

Car safety in general is something I take seriously for people AND dogs. When we purchased our new (used) vehicle our main criteria all had to do with the dogs' safety. For example, I can fit three appropriately sized crates in the vehicle and secure them to the child seat anchors. We also made sure the van we got had rear windows that roll down, not just crack open (which offers almost zero breeze/ventilation if the vehicle isn't moving). We also got one that has rear AC vents, so even if I'm comfortable up front, if the dogs happen to be in the sun in their crates they get more AC. It's got two sliding doors so we can open both, all windows, and the back hatch when we're at a dog show or trial.

Sometimes they're not even safe at home as the article mentions.

We need to be constantly aware of the dangers the warm weather brings with it.
