Star is on her way to her new home here in New England from Alabama. Transport truck broke down so she's not expected until Sunday. But thanks to Dawn Knight, although she'll be a little late she won't be dead. Since she is 99.9% safe, I'm starting a new thread here in rescue stories.

Please refer to Urgent Rescue link for history and before pictures:

To be continued, with pictures included...of course!

Paul came by last evening. Very ancy. Just wants the dog to be here already. Loaded with repetitive questions that he's been asking for days. "How will she be when she gets off the truck?"..."How many dogs are on the truck?"..."How often do they check on them?"..."How much do I feed her?"..."Should I cover the crate so she'll feel safer?"..."Do you think I should sleep with her in the kitchen until she feels comfortable?"..."How long before I should take her to the park?"...etc. He left late, and I'm SURE he did not sleep last night.

Speaking of ancy, my friends and I tease him a lot about being a two-timer. Ya see, for the past two years he and my Matsi have been 'dating' and have formed an incredible bond. They idolize each other. Her ears perk up whenever he approaches the driveway and soon the drama queen starts squealing. Just as he comes through the door she jumps onto the couch and positions herself for their makeout session. It's not until the kissing and hugging is OVER that he actually says hello to ME. And then if it's a weekend, often she'll spend the night with him 'at his place' while I'm working.

So now, with STAR on the way, he says he's going to have a salt and pepper relationship with his girls(huh??). No no no, he's in BIG trouble for dissing Matsi. She's going to turn into a RAGING bitch if she senses he's with another woman. I kidd him to be prepared for FATAL attraction, that she ain't going to lay DOWN for this one! I tell him, say ba-byyy to Matsi for awhile so we can keep her PAWS off you, her TEETH off Star, and her wounded HEART to be tended to by her 'real' friends. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/15_ssst.gif

Hi Donna-

He'll be united with her in about 30-45 minutes from now!!!

Loaded with repetitive questions that he's been asking for days. I go to meet and pick up dogs about twice a month from Kyle....
"How will she be when she gets off the truck?" some are lackadaisical, some are raring to go, some are skittish, some pee immediately!!, some are excited, some are all over their new family.... ...
"How many dogs are on the truck?" By the time they get to NH it could be anywhere from 35- 50 dogs left to go to their new families, they start out with approx. 65-80 depending on size. ...
"How often do they check on them?" They have three guys driving and the dogs are pottied twice a day and they are all checked several times a day. ...
"How much do I feed her?"...
"Should I cover the crate so she'll feel safer?"...
"Do you think I should sleep with her in the kitchen until she feels comfortable?"..."

I'm home now, will post photos later this evening, still have to download them. She's everything he expected, and more. I'm not even going to say another word, will let the pictures speak for themselves. Just wanted to confirm especially for Dawn that things could not be better...

....So of course we were early, along with many other adopters and rescuers.

Duke faked sick just before leaving the house so he could go along and share in all the excitement.

Then the former horse carriage, which holds about 75 dogs, pulled up and started unloading right away. We were their last stop on their route, and they were quick and very organized. I sped right into photo frenzy mode as my emotions took over watching so many unwanted dogs be placed into the arms of loving guardians by Kyle, the transporter.

All the new adoptive moms were beaming. These dogs will be cherished forever, as they should be.

"Excuse me, is there a STAR in there?"

"Coming through."

"Anyone looking for ME?"

"Can we go off and be by ourselves somewhere?"

"Cookie Star?"

"Hey, I didn't travel a thousand miles for a MILKBONE!!"

"Wonder if he thinks my butt's too big."

"Hey, Star, I'm Duke. I've heard so much about you."

"Hey, Star makes me look HUUGE!"

"Listen Star. I want us to be together furever."

"Does Matsi know this?"

"Say thank-you to Kyle now."

"Duke, pinch me, will ya?"

"I think I found myself a nice sugar daddy."

"This has been quite an adventure. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings."
