9 mo female in heat ?'s

Hi, before anybody says it yes I know she should have been fixed by now, just have been busy and hunting for a good reasonable priced vet. Here are my questions. My 9 mo gsd female came into heat and is acting sort of funny to me. Is it normal for them to be extra cuddly? She seems confused and extremly bothered by the fact that she has to keep licking"down there", is that normal? Do you think she could be in pain? She has also has been a little agressive toward my other dog, would that happen too? All my other female dogs have been fixed so I am not sure. Also we take nightly walks to go and get the mail and sometimes go for a walk afterward. She i 100%distracted. She normally walks perfect and now she is a mess. I have not changed anything I am doing w her. So please give me any thoughts. Thanks.

Yes to all of the above.

My females got VERY clingy when they went into heat. They were also rather bitchy towards the other dogs (extremely bitchy towards other females -spayed or not).

I would be cautious about taking her out for walks while she's in heat. If a loose intact male dog is within a mile or so they will smell her and come a running. And you would have a very hard time keep him off her.

As for the distracted part - yes. Right now her body is telling her brain she should be breeding. It's a hormone thing!

You could also get yourself dog bit. Some males will stop at NOTHING to get to a female and a stranger trying to stop them could be putting themselves to risk of a bite.
