I'm had to re home my 3 yr old B&T Male fixed Shepard. He is solely a 1 person dog. I live in MI, and found him a home in ND, with a young man that is in the military. I thought it was a great fit, and he seemed to care. however he has roomates, and now his roommate was bit, 15 stiches. He was going to put him down, but now has to wait the 10 days, says he still will, but Im trying to make a last effort for him, hoping their is a real person out there that truly understands this situation. I did have him once talked into flying him back, however I don't have anywhere I can keep him more then a few days.. this is heart wrenching, since he got along fine with his new owner. I don't know if I can find someone or if he really should be pts. :(

IMO, after reading your previous posts regarding this dog attacking a child and now a bite that needed 15 stitches, the dog needs to be euthanized.

it would cost me 400 to drive back out there. it doesn't quite feel like I did the best I could, since Harley got along with his new owner, but the kid didn't listen that Harley wasn't ready to mingle with all these roomates, he told me they were moving out and Harley would be kept away from them, for the most part. Harley came with a muzzle. He knew he needed training first.

It sounds like your heart tells you to go pick him up because you think he could make it in a more ideal situation. It seems this young man put Harley in a situation with roomates that Harley was not ready for. I think Harley could have a good life with the right handler but its going to take some more effort on your part to acheive this. tI have seen many shepherds that are one person dogs and they are handled that way and do fine. I have also seen many one person shepherds that over time became more accepting of strangers and much less of a liability. It takes time, training and love. I wish the best for you in the very difficult time.

you hit the nail on the head, im sure he would do fine in the right situation, hes not biting the vet that's playing fetch with him on her breaks. Its just finding that right person, for some reason people just don't listen either, since he was aware of how Harley was before he took him.

The breeder, just someone that had some GSD's in the home and bred them. Hes not reg. but I saw both parents. They live in a town over from me, and I went and talked with them but they had no recourse's...

unless someone reaches out to get help get him, Ive come to a reality that he will be put down on the 12th, it is very hard but I cant seem to find him that ideal home. And I also cant live with the fact of him maybe really hurting someone else. :(

Why do I have to pay taxes for murderers, child molesters etc... to be housed and fed when my dog has to die today or tomorrow?????????????

because it is a dog and the people caring for him thus far have not been able to keep him from biting
that is a humans fault not the dogs
you knew the dog bit
you told the new owner yet he also allowed him to be in a position to bite yet again

quite frankly this is why it is never advisable to rehome a known biter
very few ifs ands or buts there

just be glad he did not managed to maim or even kill a child

Its not fair to the dog. He never had a proper life to enjoy. There are many German Shepherds that are one person dogs and they have to be managed that way. Its a shame when they are pts when they never had a fair chance. If you want to save him unfortunately, you are his only option.

Yep I know one. I won't give details but I'm amazed at how far that family has gone for him. As I told them, in most homes he'd be PTS long time ago

Yep he was set up for failure...
And If I had a place to keep him now, I wouldn't fail him. As far as because hes a dog, well the humans that molest children and or murder them, are NO BETTER THEN DIRT! But lets keep giving our money to feed them...
