My pup is going repeatedly after items on desks and after plugs. Usually this is more at the end of the day, and it is constant. I redirect, put him in his crate, work on obedience or play with tugs and toys, but it keeps recurring and is so frustrating. And it is not behavior I've ever had before so persistently in my previous dogs (he's like my 5 or 8th GSD, depending on whether you count family dogs). While I've put away and puppy proofed most everything, I can't put away absolutely everything and he's always up on his hind legs going for something high up.

I also am having more trouble than any previous dog with biting. I've tried all the recommended remedies but I've never had a dog repeatedly draw blood on me, every day multiple times. It makes it hard to tire him out, when I can't walk a step without him wrapping his front legs around my legs, and then biting anything he can reach from ankles to butt. And drawing blood. I do cover up as much as possible, use distraction toys, use obedience (he knows sit, and is getting better at down and stay) but it never fails, in a half hour of more of outdoor playtime or a walk, he will turn from the toy or whatever and sink his teeth into my calf or whatever. I probably have had 50 wounds so far. I've tried dragging a long rope to distract him but it only takes a second for him to do this, and he has a puppy's short attention span, and is quick to move from toy to body part.

He is a smart dog. He was housetrained after day 1, and pees on command. Rings a bell to go outside. Never an accident.

I have had high drive, bitey GSDs before and managed them fine. But this one, I could use some outside objective advice on, perhaps from others who've had this, and can recommend something useful - particularly re the walking - and if not, at least to commiserate.

What are all the "recommended remedies" you have tried?

Some dogs are pushy and like to bite stuff. I much prefer this kind of dog. It's how they should be IMO.

What do you do when he bites you?

car2ner is correct in my opinion. I'm amazed by your description how much his actions are just like my Gracie was at that age. One on One observation by a good trainer with GSD experience was the choice we made. It worked out very well. I too have had Shepherds all my life but Gracie was different. After some professional training she settled down.

Distraction, correction and redirection. (Not in that order) 😂 But I agree with the others about having someone come in and assess the behavior in action.

What's more fun for the dog? It's his opinion that matters, not what you think should be more fun. An adjustment in how you play with the pup could do wonders. Tug, flirt pole, fetch...

Do you have a recommendation for a flirt pole? Bear isn’t a puppy (except in my eyes) so probably something substantial. I know he would love it!

I don't. I've made them from lunge whips and other stuff. I got an Amazon one a long time ago and still have a few.

I bought a lunge whip from Tractor Supply, and tied a beat up, de-stuffed toy on the end. Super cheap and easy.

I'm betting that the pup really likes the OPs reaction to the bites. And the toys aren't nearly as special, their noise isn't nearly as rewarding.

If you could just be as boring as all get out, if you could somehow stop reacting to the teeth on your flesh - yup that's asking a lot.

I like David's suggestions and Car2ner's remarks. Maybe to help you ignore this, some heavy duty half chaps for your calves --- or a bite suit. The bite suit is at least half in jest ...

I just wanted to update that today we came back from a morning walk/hike, a little ball tossing outside when we got back, then hand feeding breakfast while doing obedience. And I put him in his crate for a few minutes while I had breakfast, let him out after a few minutes when he'd 'settled' and he went to his bed and is sleeping. Bliss. We may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He is four months and one day today. And I haven't gotten any new wounds in a few days.

A long sturdy stick will do, it's preferable but doesn't necessarly have to flex that much.
I just bought a new stuffy for Rogans flirt pole but can't use it yet as we have a yard full of ice cover right now.

Well, one more step back. He does wear a line in the house when not in his crate. He usually sits in a cubby made from an overhanging counter when I'm working in the kitchen, sort of a natural cave. I turned my back to wash out the dish sponge, and he leapt up, pulled the dish drainer with dishes off the counter and drainer and dishes crashed to the floor. Mama was not pleased and dog is in his crate.
