Training a puppy

My question is how do I get him crazy about his ball so that he'll work for the reward of playing with it. At the moment he's 8 weeks old and I am clicker training him with treats. I am not planning to do anything like obedience or agility with him-just want a well behaved family pet. He enjoys playing with his toys, so I am just wondering if I can harness this drive and use it in training?
