Does anyone have any experience with invisible fences and GSD?

I know people that have them.If a dog is running full out in prey drive they'll shoot right through it.Then after they're done chasing and calmed down, they won't cross it to come back home.

That's a great point... Didn't consider the pups behavior if it did cross and tried to come back.

This is kind of what I was worried about when we considered one. They'd be so distracted going out, but coming back, they'd be focusing on it more.

Yes, I have a lot of "experience" with them: I've met a lot of stray dogs in shelters wearing e-fence collars after having been picked up by Animal Control! My experience seeing dogs in shelters is all I need to know to be convinced they aren't safe containment.

Unfortunately, I also have seen way too many rescue applications of people looking to adopt dogs who write in the application that their last dog died from being hit by a car...because their e-fence failed to contain the dog.

I have seen 2 great danes who froze when being put into their yard, expecting to be shocked at all times. Very sad scene. And if your dogs do stay in the yard, any other person, dog, wild animal can come in freely.
