What to do with puppy while out and about for 1-3 hours.

What can I do with my puppy during the first weeks of crate training (so he doesn't eliminate in the house) when I am running errands for about 30 minutes to 3 hours. Should I leave him outside or leave him in my room and accept that he'll eliminate during the first couple weeks? My house is quite large and I don't want him roaming around and getting into some dangers during the first weeks.

Thanks

Also, my garden has one cat, so I need them to get used to each before my puppy has free will in the garden

Thanks

How about leaving him in the crate?

I crate my girl any time I leave the house when I can't take her with me. When Juno was 8-12 weeks I wouldn't leave her for very long, but now at 18 weeks, she hangs out happily in her crate for up to 4 hours. Just make sure she has an indestructible chew toy and a lovey of some kind to keep her occupied. mine seems to like working on a peanut butter and treat filled kong while I'm gone.

He should be fine in the crate for that long.

Would he be able to stay in there for about 2-3 hours? My nana (name for a house lady, cleaning lady in chile) could take him out every 50 minutes to use the bathroom outside, does that seem reasonable? And I suppose it's important to close the crate door haha. ALSO worth noting that he is only about 7-8 weeks old. This is my first puppy, so thanks for the patience

Two or 3 hours should be fine. It's likely that he'll just sleep, as long as you cover the crate and put it in a quiet part of the house.

I would definitely crate and he would definitely be OK for that long just remember to remove his collar before leaving him in the crate unsupervised

I work several hours a night at certain days and the dogs have to be crated for about three hours on these evenings. Ideally only once fully crate trained but I need to work before puppy is crate trained so he is in his closed crate for three hours, trained or not.
I just make sure he is tired, fed, watered, let out again etc. And guess what? Each dog has survived this routine. It is OK to put yourself first sometimes.
