A small problem

Hi all, Sammy is now 5 mos old, has done well with his basic skills.
One problem I am having, (which hurts), is when we play ball, or find it game, when he brings it back to me, he presses it against me, and bites with the item in his mouth for me to get it. He will not release it, and if you try to remove it, he clenches down harder on the item, then repeats the routine.
Any suggestions?
Don't like the bruises on my leg.
He is a very happy and outgoing boy, and I love playing with him.
Thanks for your help.
Carol

These are the 2 ways we trained Tessa...I would have a treat ready to give her when she drops, eventually it was a drop and then leave it for a treat. The other way was to always have two balls, and as soon as she got back I would throw the other, the side benefit was that she got a lot of exercise in a short amount of time if I had a lot going on..

Ugh..Tazor at 10 months does it as did my 2 prior shepherds.. I never figured out why? If I yell at him..he does it to my cats or other dogs.. Its soooooooo annoying! (After 20 straight years of this, its not a small problem)
