Diminishing Crate Aggression
One of my fosters was adopted into a great home
,and now I have another space available. I got a call from the shelter about a black female Shepherd who was returned because she is aggressive in the crate,as well as in the kennel when people walk by her at the shelter. She is fine once she is out of the kennel/crate. I plan to get her tomorrow to assess her here at the house. Has anyone had this problem with a dog who is aggressive in a kennel, but fine once they are out?
One of the staff members says that he takes her home with him at night and she is a great dog,but he can't keep her permanently because he has other animals, and the shelter is filling up
.Right now she is being deemed unadoptable unless she can be helped with the kennel aggression.
I've used desensitization in the past with treats for dogs like this before, but am open to any other ideas.
