Hey all, I know I haven't posted in forever. I just thought I'd share this video from yesterday.
We've been working on this for a couple weeks now, the first week we just did fun energizing games. If he was at my side I rewarded that, and we just goofed off and tried to get training to be a fun thing.
After that, I started rewarding him for being near my side. I continued to reward until he had a basic idea. Then I started associating "fuss" with eye contact, and building on that until it was solid. After that I started treating with my left hand and rewarding above his head. This helped build muscle memory and tightened him to my side.
I use "yes" to mark the behavior and "good" as praise while he is doing something right, and "eh eh" as a verbal correction.
Sorry if any of it sounds confusing! I'm not good with words, I am a visual person.
We trained without any leashes or anything, just him, me, and some yummy treats.
All together I'd say we've been practicing for 2 weeks, maybe a bit more. The game took up one week.
Thanks for looking! Sorry if this feels pointless. lol
