How do you explain how you train your dog?

So my little sister, whom I love dearly (there is a HINT of sarcasm in there...) asked me the other day, "So how are you going to train your dog?" "What do you mean?" "How are you going to train him?" I was baffled, how do you explain how you train your dog/puppy? As we (most of my family) are in education in one form or another, I asked her, "Well how do you teach a kid?" "I don't know." I will say I have never gone to any obedience classes, never done any formal training, it is just something I DO. It is the same with teaching. I am not technically a teacher and have never taken education classes. When I get up and am subbing for the 5/6 class whose teacher up and left and got a new job in Ohio while she was "sick" (true story by the way) I just do what I think needs to be done. Those kids were much better with me than they were with their trained teacher. So if you had to answer the question, what would you say?

"Daily beatings."

That usually stops the questions and lets the conversation move on.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I got lucky, she does everything I want without training.
And I do everything she wants, with only occasional training.

Unfortunately a lot of people think GSDs are born trained We've had people adopt from AC or the rescue and two days later are complaining because the dog won't listen to the commands they were never taught and aren't barking at people when they knock on the door!
