too excited

now zero has very high anxiety and excitement. He is doing better with it because i have been walking him more and introducing him to new things. i just have a question. when i put his leash on he starts pacing back and forth and whining and half jumping on my and barking. should i just put it on him sometimes and not take him anywhere? so he gets used to the leash?

I think that's a great idea. Also, you could leave it out somewhere, like on a table or if you have a hook on the wall in the house. Pick it up when you walk by and then set it down again. Do that a few times a day for awhile. Then, put it on him (very matter of fact, no fanfare), leave it on him for a few minutes, then take it off and put it away again. If he gets excited when you pick up his leash, set it down and walk away. If he barks, freeze and don't even look at him until he stops. Don't reinforce the excitement by responding to it, simply ignore it.
