Exclamation selfish?

is it selfish to want your dog to focas on you and love you more than anyother thing? shilo listens to everyone. and freaks out to see a stranger across the street or a dog across the field i dont get it! am i not good enough? i enjoy her love of dogs and people but not this much! she cares more for them than me! i am more the trainer and disapline one in the family BC she is my dog, right? but when my father is around or anyother person she runs to them and compleatly ignores me! and with dogs, she is obsessed! she barks and growls at them from afar, but when they come close she gets submissive, if the dog is very friendly she plays and is fine but if the dog isnt she bolts and barks. i just dont like her being so dependant on every moving thing! and so obsessive

She just sounds like a young, happy go lucky, pup/dog. That's probably just her personality. She's stimulated by all the fun things going on in the world and wants to be part of it. Some dogs are velcro dogs and some just arent. I guess yours just isn't, but be happy. She sounds like she's a pretty happy young dog. In my opinion. thats a lot better than a dog who's scared of everything in the world and has to rely on you for everything.

Oh I see what you're saying... so she runs off and you're worried about her getting hit by a car or something.

Have you done any obedience classes with her? A good recall takes time and really doesnt happen over night. It's especially hard when theres distractions around. You really have to work on it every day to perfect it.

Practice the recall with a long 50 foot lead if you're worried she wont come back and try to do it everywhere. With dogs, with people, with cars (as long as theres a good distance from the cars), and any other distractions you can think of. Reward and praise when she listens. Make a game out of it and make it fun.
