"Playing with Prey Drive"

I was researching drive, and I found this, I thought it was pretty good.

Re: "Playing with Prey Drive"

Yeah but it sure leaves me wanting the next article on drive training toys..

Quote:
Quote:That’s good! When you find that your puppy is highly motivated to play, goes for the toy as soon as an opportunity presents itself, and bites down hard enough to play a strong game of tug, it’s time to move from drive building toys to drive training toys. We’ll cover that in another article, soon.
I'm hoping I can use this as a way of retraining my girls prey drive away from cats and squirrels and use it for training as it's her strongest drive.

Need more info!

Re: "Playing with Prey Drive"

Here's another very long forum discussion on working for focus and attention with prey drive.

http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=43795

and an article at natural dog training about it as well.

http://www.naturaldogblog.com/blog/2007/...-dog-on-a-walk/

I'm out looking for anything to help me use my girl's high prey drive to my advantage in training, and get control of her over the top desire to chase little furry things..
