Treats???

CJ is 8 weeks old what is appropriate to use for treats for training or any other time? I know that some things can upset a puppies tummy. We also have 6 year old Stella Mae and she gets liver treats and bones. He gets his puppy bones then looks at us like "you like her better than me don't you" , I know that look because I used it on my parents when growing up.

Re: Treats???

From what I have read, freeze dried liver treats are great. You would just need to break them up to make them a little smaller.

Re: Treats???

Sarge like cut up hotdogs. I just take a hotdog and slice it into little pieces. Its an easy and quick treat when you just feel like doing some training at home. Its not the best thing to take along in your pocket...lol. But for home or the back yard they work great. We buy several packs when their on sale and freeze some and keep one pack in the fridge.

Re: Treats???

I keep it simple and use my pup's regular kibble as treats; each morning I put a handful (and I do try to roughly count that as part of the daily amount) of kibble in my jeans pocket. Oh heck, every pocket of anything I wear has kibble in it, always have to clean it out before putting anything in washer!) I guess the biggest reason I do this is that I had a long problem on prior dog with SIBO, and when at last her diet/med regimen got her in control, hated to deprive her of treats, so kept kibble in my pocket for that beloved dog. And...this pupster has from Day One had a tendency for soft stools in the evening, which I now have under good control, and thus also just the kibble....don't want to go upsetting the boat. Plus I know the kibble is healthy vs junk, and she is simply eager to get her pieces of it, so we're both happy!
