walking and travel in car
My GSD Max is now almost 5 months old.
He is getting better on walks everyday. When he passes most people or dogs, he greets them and does great.
However, the other night he passed two older women and one looked clearly afraid of Max. He sensed it and started to bark at her, and hid behind me. I reassured them that he is a puppy, they seemed to relax and Max stopped barking and calmed down. I am now walking him daily to get him more and more used to people and other dogs.
(my wife and I have had friends and family around him, as well as other dogs) (he seems to really like to play with my mom's 6 year old Scottie...they seem to pal around)
My goal is to eventually have a hiking partner with Max, since there are a lot of beautiful hiking trails and forests in the Northern and Central California.
As for long road trips... I am a bit concerned. He tends to whine, but after each short driving trip there are small improvements.
For road trips I figure:
-having a blanket and toys that he is used to.
-I have a back set cover to protect the leather.
-maybe a dog seat belt harness?
-other thoughts welcome..
