puppy humping owner

Every darn day this pup humps me. Me who spends 75% of the time with him, 90% of the time training him , and making him listen ( I e not jumping on people that greet him). He's 11 weeks old. I have read this is not dominance. Then what is gods green earth is it? This morning, when he did it I just put him in his Kennel , where he whined and barked and promptly fell asleep. Yesterday it was during a morning free walk where I encourage him to follow me by jogging away when he wanders too far. The very first time he did it was the first night we had him home at 8 weeks when i was taking him out to potty.

My boy used to wake up from naps and air hump. It kinda scared me at first, it seemed so weird. I think it can be all the hormones, the poor little guys have no clue what to do with the urges and the "red rockets". As with any behavior, reward what you do like and don't let him practice what you don't like. Try not to make a big deal about it, just a matter of fact "get off of my foot". My boy outgrew the urge to air hump after a deep sleep by 6 months...your results may vary.

Ignore it. Walk away. If you pay attention, you reward it. It's not just males. Females will, too, if they get attention for it.
