Talking Progress and growing

Roxy will be 5 months old at the end of the month. Where does the time go?

Updates and progress report:

My best friend ( who lives on the road behind me) has a labradoodle...roxy and sophie are becoming best friends..which is way cool. My best friend and I have been bests since we were in grade school...we are now 50.

so we go over to her fenced in yard so they can have run time and then at night we take them walking either in the housing addition or out to one of the many paths in town.

Roxy's favorite toy -- flirt pole -- she would chase that all day if we would let her

...talents:

sit, stay, down, leave it, off, easy ( treat taking), slow ( when we are loose leash walking), place (on the footstool), come ( really working on this one now) , shake,

it takes her a couple of times to learn something new. She is so eager to please. I really have stopped adding anything new and just keep repeating these. She's good with come but still is stubborn or distracted at times and chooses to "ignore" me. That bug under the mud is way more entertaining than I am.

when we walk at the riverfront and somebody walks past without stopping to pet her..she looks offended and looks at me like "didn't they get the memo? they are supposed to be petting me" It's kind of funny and how goofy I must look trying to explain to a 5 month old german shepherd that not everybody wants to pet her.
She's very good about stopping and sitting if there are bikes going by or kids on roller blades.

I don't want to wish her life away ...but I am anxious for her to get old enough to start with some agility.. I think she's going to be great at it.

....oh oh..and the howling when I leave...stopped. She knows I'm coming back from wherever it is I'm going. When I leave and I need to put her in the kennel ...I will tell her she needs to go to her room for a bit and she bounds into the kennel and waits for her 2 dog cookies. Then down she goes as to tell me to beat it she wants some quiet time.

I am still like 'is this the world's most perfect pup ever?' So far there are just no issues with her. Nothing.

anyhow thanks for celebrating Roxy's accomplishments with me !

That's such a good girl

Does she go to the end of the leash with her tail wagging her butt? I always think that's so adorable when dogs are that excited to be pet.

LOL oh yeah she's a tail wagger. The look she gives "ME" when somebody doesn't stop to pet her is priceless. One night we were walking one of the trails and the same guy jogged by her 3 times without even looking at her...I got "the look" and I explained to her that he was busy...it wasn't her ..it was just he had a job to do. Next time he goes by she didn't even shoot him a glance. I guess by then "she was too busy". She cracks me up.
